Each time you volunteer you will receive a chance to win a trip for two for a weekend in Edmonton.  And . . . if you volunteer at an Oil Barons game we will give you five *Baron Bucks redeemable at the concessions, souvenir stand or hockey ticket booth. (*Baron Bucks are the property of the Oil Barons Hockey Club and have no cash value.)

New this year for volunteers, we will also be giving away a prize basket donated by our volunteer sponser of the month.  With more great prizes, it pays to be an Oil Barons volunteer.

A Message From The Billet Coordinator

Welcome back to another exciting year of Oil Barons Hockey.  I am the billet coordinator for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons and am looking forward to meeting all our new and existing billet families.

Billeting can be a very exciting and rewarding experience for all those willing to open up their homes to dedicated players of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.  Many families who have billeted in the past usually look back at their experience with fond memories.  In fact, many families still keep in contact with their players as they move through the ranks of college and professional hockey.

However, in reality not every player/family match will be met with un-denying success. Sometimes chemistry and/or expectations might be lacking to continue on with the relationship in a positive manner for one or both parties.  When this happens, we will make our best attempt towards making the necessary changes to ensure everyone is happy and comfortable with their arrangements.

Whether you're new or a long time resident of Fort McMurray, billeting is a great way to meet people.  When you walk into the Thickwood Heights Arena for an Oil Barons game, often you will notice small groups of people standing around talking.  These groups are usually the billet families talking with other billets and/or the players' families.

Each billet family is paid a monthly amount of $400.00 per player (in addition to receiving milk & bread coupons) to house the player in their home.  Also, each family is given two season tickets and two playoff tickets per player billeted.
