THE MOB EXPERIENCE
"The fan support is tremendous. It really gives the team home ice advantage and the reputation the fans have is an intimidating obstacle for visiting teams to overcome."
-Tom Keca, Assistant Coach/GM, Oil Barons Alumni 1991-92

MOB STORIES
Hi,
A friend of mine and I have been season ticket holders for years. Last night (Nov. 6th), we brought my 4 yr old stepson to the game for his first live hockey game. At the first intermission, I saw Carson Cooper and Justin Rose in the foyer, and brought my stepson over to them. I introduced them to him, and they were super nice! I told them that he was in skating, that he was excited to play hockey next winter, and the boys took the time to talk to him for a minute, and then they shook his hand, even with Carson's injury! My stepson was excited to have met "real hockey players", and that would have been enough for a memorable first game, but that wasn't the end of his excitement.
At the end of the game, Ben Lake skated over with the autographed hockey stick, and passed it over the glass to us. How exciting for a 4 yr old aspiring player to get a "real" hockey stick! All the way down the stairs he chattered about how he wanted to use the stick when he got to play hockey. I asked him if he would like to meet Jesse Kallechy and Buster Hebda, since they were doing autographs, and of course he was off like a shot to the table. The boys again were really nice, when I told them it was his first game, Jesse even told my stepson that he was the good luck charm for the win that night! Then Ben Lake came over to the table. My stepson was so excited, "That's who gave me my stick!" He got his autographed card, and when I asked if the boys would mind letting me take a picture of them and my stepson, they were most willing. They brought him around the table with them, and posed for a great picture.
I just wanted you as an organization what the good efforts and attitudes of these players have done for a little 4 yr old. The entire ride home was filled with excited chatter, as he planed how to show and tell his dad about his night! The stick is now hanging on the wall above his bed, the cards are waiting to go into an album, and one little boy dreams of playing for the Barons.
Way to go boys, you made his night, and mine too!

Good Day!
Thank you very much for your support and cooperation in regards to our group visiting the Casman Center on Saturday Jan 15th, 2011. Our Scouts had a blast, and really enjoyed the game, the shout out from the man in the stands, and the autographs from the players after the game. The canteen got a work out as well from our Scouts. All in all a great night and another valuable win for the MOB.
Just a note, the players were very friendly and got a kick out of our eager Scouts!
Thanks again for helping support the 1st Anzac Scout Group!

KEYANO COLLEGE CASE COMPETITION
On February 19th, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons were the subject of study for Keyano College business students competing in this year's case competition. The work of the students was of the highest quality, ensuring that Keyano College will be very well represented as the winning group competes against other schools at the grand competition in Red Deer.
One group created Podcasts for the Oil Barons as part of the project, which can be viewed here:
